The Principal of Mudgee Ballet Academy – Dance with Attitude which opened in Mudgee on May 1st, 2006. Ms Naomi Bishop has 23 years teaching experience during 4 years full time training and 12 years as a professional dancer in the dance industry.

Ms Naomi is a recruitment agent for those students seeking a career in dance and a mentor for training teaching for numerous qualifications of various genres of dance. She brings safe dance practices and unlimited opportunities to many students nationally.

Ms Naomi Bishop is the Founder of Mid-Western Dance Festival established in 2013. The Chairperson of the Mid-Western Dance Festival – MUDGEE 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017. Founder & Partner of Dance Virtuosos (with Darren Disney & Csaba Buday 2015-2017). Founder & Partner of IGNITE Dance Team from 2017 (Naomi Bishop, Darren Disney & Csaba Buday).

At the young age of 15 years, Ms Naomi was selected and moved from the country town of Mudgee to follow her dream to attend full time study at Ecole Classique in Sydney, then furthered her studies in Melbourne with Dance World 301.

Ms Bishop commenced her career as a professional dancer and performer at age 18, under the Agent Colours DW 301. Ms Naomi travelled abroad, dancing in London at the Adeline Gennae’ International Ballet Competition. She also performed with the Zurich Ballet in Switzerland and Germany and with the Royal Ballet Company in Melbourne for its performance of Swan Lake. Other credits include dancing with Walt Disney Special Events in such roles as Snow White; and dancing in music film clips such as “Sister to Sister”, “Jack Jack Jackie” and “Golden Touch”.

Ms Naomi was awarded Honours in the Advanced Royal Academy of Dance Examination, and also awarded her Solo Seal. Further qualifications include 21154VIC Certificate 3 in Dance Performance, and the Certificate in Workplace Training and Assessment. Ms. Naomi holds a Registered Teacher Status (Distinction), with the Royal Academy of Dance. She maintains an excellent success rate for R.A.D. exam students, a qualified mentor & assessor for the Royal Academy of Dance, for teachers studying CBTS.

In addition to her teaching commitments, she is a Dance Eisteddfod Adjudicator including Redlands, Gladstone, Mackay, Mildura and Shanghai Classical Dance Competition. Guest teaching Todays Dance Style (Jazz) for the Central Queensland Dancers Company – 2012, 2013, 2014 and in the January Summer Series 2012, 2013 & 2014.

Prior to her return to Mudgee, from 2000-2006 she was the Classical Co-ordinator and Course Manager for 6 years at The Edge Performers School and Agency (Full time School located in Eltham in Melbourne). Her duties included writing the Accredited Dance Course curriculum for Cert III, IV & Diploma in Dance Performance.

Many of Ms Naomi’s former students have progressed to professional work in Australia and overseas, returning to perform as guests in her annual concerts or teachers at her school – D.W.A. The Dance school has delivered many dance styles including RAD, Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus, Modern Expressive Dance, and Demi -Characters & National Character. Jazz Dance with a strong emphasis on Technique, and Musical Theatre Classes.

Ms Naomi has in the past coordinated 3 separate dance studio branches along with various productions. Sourcing Lighting, sound props dancers & Guest Artists in Coolah, Kandos & Mudgee.
